Are you ready for a challenge?

The importance of the challenges
As mentioned earlier, the transport sector contributes to the global CO2 and GHG emissions by 16.2 %, where private transportation by road accounts for approximately half of the transport sector’s emissions. This high number must be reduced in the near future. The more positive change you can inflict as an individual, the larger impact we will see on a global level, as our combined carbon footprint exposes a large consequence on the environment and the current climate change.
Go electric!
Challenge: When purchasing your next car - make sure it is an EV

Duration: As long as you own the car

If you have no need for a private car, this challenge is not for you. But if you need a car in your everyday life, a challenge could be to consider all the pros you will experience from purchasing, owning and driving an EV. And ultimately, you should make sure that the next car you purchase is an EV, as EV’s are the future of the private car sector.
Leave the car at home!
Challenge: Take the bike, bus or other alternatives to your car

Duration: A min. of two weeks

One challenge that you could do to contribute to a positive effect on the CO2 and GHG emissions is leaving the car at home and finding alternative ways of transportation. If you own a bike, take the bike to work. If you do not yet own a bike, it is possible to purchase one very easily without spending a lot of money. Just think of all the money you will save from not burning fuel or electricity on your way to and from work. If a bike is not an option for you due to e.g. distance, try exploring public transportation systems. Taking the bus or the train to and from work will also have a positive impact on the CO2 emissions, as you leave your own car at home. Do this challenge for as long as you see fit, however a minimum duration of two weeks is recommended, if you truly wish to experience and contribute to change.
Activate your legs!
Challenge: Incorporate walking with your everyday duties

Duration: A min. of two weeks

Using your legs is the best way of transportation. It is free and healthy. A challenge for you could be to walk more! Especially, when you need to do your everyday tasks. On your way to the grocery store, walk instead of taking the car. Leaving the car at home will always have a positive impact on your carbon footprint. Do this for a minimum of two weeks to feel a difference and make an effort to change your old habits.
Protip: Remember to bring your backpack for the groceries. With your backpack, carrying heavy bags on your walk home will not be a problem.
Additional gains: a walk is healthy for both body and mind. It is a great way to clear your thoughts and lower stress levels in your body.
